3rd New Zealand Jeep® Jamboree - Kaikoura, South Island

Jeep® welcomed in the new Millennium with our first jamboree in the South Island in early January 2000.

Kaikoura, with its superb natural beauty, plus excellent outdoor activities such as whale watching, was our base.

The poor weather that dampened New Year’s spirits had continued through to the jamboree weekend, causing some easy trails to become very difficult – a challenge that Jeep® owners took on with relish.

The highlight was the drive along an eight kilometre stretch of the Clarence River, then overland to Hanmer Springs for a dip in the hot pools, before going to Mt Lyford for a barbecue on the slopes of this wonderful skifield.

Country and Western music provided the entertainment for the main camp dinner on the final night.
